Marco Reus feels Borussia Dortmund can beat Bayern Munich in DFB Pokal

Marco Reus has said he is "very optimistic" Borussia Dortmund can defeat Bayern Munich in the DFB Pokal semifinal as they seek to end a disappointing season on a high.

Bayern, who won the cup in both 2013 and 2014, are the only side to have eliminated Dortmund from the competition since Jurgen Klopp's men suffered a shock defeat to third-tier club Kickers Offenbach in October 2010.

BVB lost 2-0 to Bayern in last year's final, but they had enjoyed a 5-2 success over their rivals to win the competition in 2012 and Reus is confident they can get secure another victory at the Westfalenstadion on Tuesday night.

Reus, who is set to return to the starting lineup for the first time since the 1-0 Bundesliga defeat against Bayern on April 4, said in Bild: "We always have what it takes to beat big opponents.

"We have shown that against Bayern, and we will give it our all to win the match. I am very optimistic we can do it."

Reus had given Dortmund the lead against Bayern in the 2-1 defeat at the Allianz Arena in November, and teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang -- who has scored 20 goals in all competitions this season -- backed the Germany international to deliver on Tuesday.

"Marco often scores against Bayern, and I often assist, but it could be the other way round too," said Aubameyang, who has set up seven goals in the Bundesliga this season. "I don't care, as long we win it."

Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp, who will leave the Westfalenstadion this summer after a disappointing season in the Bundesliga, has said he wants to win the DFB Pokal to ensure his tenure ends on a high.
