Jurgen Klopp praises Dortmund's second-half reaction vs. Hoffenheim

Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp said his squad will lick their wounds and get ready for the DFB-Pokal semifinals after they beat TSG Hoffenheim 3-2 after coming from one goal down to win in extra time.

Sebastian Kehl was also up for praise from his Bundesliga boss after his strike from distance gave Dortmund the lead in the 108th minute.

"We were a tad better than the result suggests," Klopp said after the match. "It was an extremely intense match. We played well without having clear chances in the final third.

Neven Subotic had fired Dortmund ahead on 19 minutes when he connected with a corner to steer the ball into the net, but the lead was cancelled out moments later when Kevin Volland volleyed home a corner at the other end.

Hoffenheim were 2-1 up soon afterwards when Subotic's error allowed Roberto Firmino to run clean through on goal and chip Mitchell Langerak.

"In the second half we produced a superb reaction," said Klopp. "We put an almost unbearable level of pressure on them and deservedly got the equaliser. And then Sebastian did that"

The German manager said he was impressed by Kehl's effort and admitted he didn't know the 35-year-old midfielder was capable of such a goal.

"It's brilliant that he gets to be the hero of the day. It was a dramatic game, which really swung back and forth," Klopp said.

Dortmund were without Mats Hummels and Marco Reus on the day, which prompted Klopp to credit his team's effort once again as they regroup for the semifinal match vs. Borussia Monchengladbach.

"Progressing to the semis is good for everyone. Now it's time to lick our wounds and look to the Gladbach match on Saturday."
