No Max Eberl ultimatum from Bayern Munich - Borussia Monchengladbach

Borussia Monchengladbach have said "there isn't an ultimatum" regarding the future of sporting director Max Eberl ahead of Sunday's game against Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich.

Kicker reported last month that 43-year-old Eberl is "the first option" for Bayern, who have been without a new sporting director since Matthias Sammer's departure last summer due to ill health.

Bild followed up on the report by suggesting a decision on Eberl's future would be finalised before this weekend's Bundesliga meeting in Monchengladbach.

But speaking to kicker on Wednesday, Gladbach vice-president Rainer Bonhof said: "There isn't an ultimatum or anything of the sort."

According to Bild, Eberl wants the full support of both CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and president Uli Hoeness, and wishes to take over the role of Michael Reschke and have a decisive say in transfer targets.

Bild maintain if those conditions are not met, Eberl will stay at Gladbach.

Last month, kicker claimed Hoeness is keen on the former Bayern player returning to the club, while Rummenigge is said to prefer a more "distanced" approach.

Eberl, contracted to Gladbach until 2020, said that he still has big goals with the club, and added "everything else isn't an issue for me."
