Raul on Borussia Dortmund prospect Christian Pulisic: 'I love his game'

Real Madrid legend Raul has said that he enjoys watching the new young players in football and singled out U.S. national team midfielder Christian Pulisic for praise.

The 18-year-old came off the bench to score in Borussia Dortmund's recent 6-2 win against Bayer Leverkusen. Although he is still seeking consistent playing time on a stacked squad, Pulisic continues to impress observers, including the former Real Madrid star, who retired from the New York Cosmos in October 2015.

"I love Pulisic," Raul told Goal on Tuesday. "The other day he scored in the win against Bayer Leverkusen. I've seen him for a while and the truth is I love his game. I saw him here in two games with the [U.S.] national team, and I saw him against Mexico.

"I like him a lot. He's a player who can break through, he just needs to keep playing."

Pulisic's breakout season in Germany also included a strong showing in Champions League this past fall against Real Madrid. But Raul cautioned that promising prospects can't be rushed along.

"Young players like Pulisic have the talent," Raul said. "They just need time to develop, and when they can play for important teams it helps that process."

Raul also added that he would like to see more of players like Monaco's Kylian Mbappe and Tottenham's Dele Alli, both of whom he said have potential as future stars in the game.
