Weinzierl left satisfied after Schalke snatch point from BVB in Revierderby

Schalke coach Markus Weinzierl was satisfied with the goalless draw in the Revierderby against Borussia Dortmund which extended his side's run of positive results to seven.

Schalke posed the greater threat in the first half at the Westfalenstadion before holding on for a point in the second 45 minutes, and Weinzierl was the happier of the two coaches after the final whistle.

"A 0-0 [draw] is fine, we can build on this," said the former Augsburg coach. "We're now on a run of seven games unbeaten, in all competitions, and that is how we want things to continue to put right our bad start to the season.

"It was a good performance from us. The team defended very well and were disciplined.

"We didn't give them a chance in the first half and we can build on that. Dortmund were dangerous at the end and you can't keep such attacking talent quiet for 90 minutes, so we had that bit of luck we needed."

Weinzierl's Dortmund counterpart Thomas Tuchel was less satisfied with the outcome, although he praised his side's response in the second 45 minutes.

"We had big problems in the first half and made too many unforced errors and mistakes in our build-up play," Tuchel said at the postmatch news conference.

"We made things awkward for ourselves with poor passing and bad positioning up front and we didn't get a single shot in on goal.

"We were much better in the second half and filled the positions better and that is how we were able to raise the tempo, while we were almost flawless at the back.

"It was a huge effort from us overall and we created two big chances - I'm very happy with our second-half performance."

Nevertheless, the draw leaves Dortmund eight points behind Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich, while they could drop to sixth on Sunday.

They have not won in over a month with one defeat and three draws in their last four league games, but goalkeeper Roman Burki says such a blip is quite normal.

"We're not in a crisis," he said on his club's website. "We have a young team and many players out injured.

"We try to win every game because we always want to win so we will get out of this.

"We've kept a clean sheet and that's a positive that we've got to take with us, while we will analyse the rest.

"I hope some of our injured players will return soon and then we can pick from a full complement of players again."
