Bayern held by Cologne, Chicharito scores as Leverkusen beat Dortmund

Cologne became the first team to deny Bayern Munich victory in the Bundesliga this season as they picked up a deserved 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena.

Joshua Kimmich gave Bayern the lead five minutes before the end of a first half which the hosts dominated.

It was a different story in the second half, though, with Anthony Modeste bringing Cologne level, and they had the record champions on the ropes but failed to land a winning punch despite going close late on.

The result means both clubs remain unbeaten this season, although Carlo Ancelotti's Bayern left the field for the first time in the league this season without all three points following a previous run of five straight wins.

Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez scored to seal Bayer Leverkusen's 2-0 home win over Borussia Dortmund.

Ahmed Mehmedi opened the scoring after just 10 minutes, heading in Hakan Calhanoglu's cross following a corner, and Hernandez added his fifth goal in the past three games in the 79th minute by turning in another Calhanoglu cross from close range.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang thought he'd pulled a goal back with three minutes to play, but it was ruled out for outside.

Dortmund dropped into third place, four points behind leaders Bayern and one back of Hertha Berlin, who earned a 2-0 win at home over Hamburg to spoil Markus Gisdol's first game in charge.

Vedad Ibisevic double provided Hertha's first victory in three games and took them to within three points of Bayern.

Ibisevic gave Hertha the lead in the 29th minute after Hamburg failed to clear their lines from a corner. The Bosnia-Herzegovina international added a second from the penalty spot 20 minutes from time after Albin Ekdal fouled Valentin Stocker inside the penalty area.

Werder Bremen remained unbeaten under their caretaker coach Alexander Nouri after claiming a 2-2 draw at Darmstadt.

A foul by Theodor Gebre Selassie on Jerome Gondorf inside the penalty area allowed Antonio Colak to put Darmstadt in front in the 19th minute.

Ludovic Sane headed Bremen level from Gebre Selassie's cross early in the second half and Serge Gnabry's second goal since joining Bremen from Arsenal in the summer put the northern Germany side in front.

Colak brought Darmstadt back on terms within five minutes, though, volleying past Jaroslav Drobny to clinch a point which keeps the Lilies ahead of their opponents in the standings.

Ingolstadt were left still looking for their first win after going down 2-1 at home to Hoffenheim.

Sandro Wagner put the visitors in front in the 11th minute when he met Andrej Kramaric's deep cross to tuck the ball in at the far post. Kerem Demirbay doubled the guests' advantage 10 minutes before the interval with a shot from 25 yards out.

After Kramaric hit the post, Lukas Hinterseer pulled a goal back from the penalty spot deep into stoppage time, but there was no time left for the hosts to find an equaliser.

Freiburg narrowed the gap on Eintracht Frankfurt with a 1-0 win over the Eagles.

Vincenzo Grifo scored the only goal of the game after only three minutes, sweeping his shot into the far corner of Lukas Hradecky's goal.
