RB Leipzig's Oliver Burke excited by Bundesliga challenge

Former Nottingham Forest winger Oliver Burke believes that RB Leipzig are the perfect club for him.

Burke, 19, landed in his new home on Monday following his appearance in Scotland's 5-1 win against Malta on Sunday.

He became only the eighth Scot to join a Bundesliga club when he made the €15.5 million move from Nottingham Forest to newly promoted RB Leipzig during the final days of the summer transfer window.

The winger, who has been hailed as "RB Leipzig's Scottish Gareth Bale" by the official Bundesliga website, joined his new teammates on Monday, and gave his first interviews as the club's new player.

When asked about rumoured interest from Manchester United, Arsenal and Bayern Munich, Burke said: "It was like that." However, the youngster turned down the top clubs to make his first steps in a major league at Leipzig.

"They showed great interest in me, not only as a player, but also as a person and that's important for me," Burke said, adding that when hearing about the offer he first had to some reading on Leipzig and the club.

"Then I came here, and after that I could not turn down the offer," he said, praising the club's training facilities: "They are first class, five stars. It wasn't the case at my old club Nottingham Forest. Fantastic!"

The Scotland winger explained that he was looking for a "club and a coach who likes me for what I am and do on the pitch. They've showed me a few clips, how they play. And their style perfectly suits mine. It's time for a new chapter in my life. I am ready."
