Bayern to open new season against Bremen, Dortmund face Mainz

Carlo Ancelotti is to begin his Bundesliga reign at Bayern Munich with a home match against Werder Bremen on Aug. 26, the German Football League (DFL) announced on Wednesday.

Ancelotti will oversee his first league match in charge at the Allianz Arena when the Bundesliga champions open the season against last year's strugglers Werder Bremen. They will then face an away trip to Schalke.

Ancelotti will first face Borussia Dortmund in the Super Cup on Aug. 14 and will also play Carl Zeiss Jena in the DFB Pokal before the league campaign gets underway.

Bayern conclude their season at home to Freiburg.

Last season's runners-up Dortmund, meanwhile, open their season with a home match against Mainz.

Bayern and Dortmund will meet at the Westfalenstadion for Der Klassiker on match day 11, which will be played between Nov. 18-20. The match at the Allianz Arena takes place on match day 28.

RB Leipzig are set to play their first ever Bundesliga match away to Hoffenheim, before hosting Dortmund on the second match day.

The first day will also see Champions League qualifiers Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen meet at Borussia Park.
