Dortmund close gap on Bayern with Mkhitaryan winner, Leverkusen win

Borussia Dortmund reduced the deficit on Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga to five points, although they were made to work hard for a 1-0 win over bottom team Hannover.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored the only goal of the game for the Westphalians, who created numerous chances but had to wait until the 57th minute to break the deadlock.

The win puts pressure on Bayern, who can restore their eight-point lead at Augsburg on Sunday.

Bayer Leverkusen came from behind to beat Darmstadt 2-1 and move up to fourth.

Sandro Wagner gave the hosts a 28th-minute lead on a heavy pitch at the Stadion am Bollenfalltor, but Aytac Sulu's own goal helped Leverkusen get back on terms.

Julian Brandt scored the winner in the 77th minute for Roger Schmidt's men, who took advantage of Hertha Berlin's defeat in Stuttgart to move into a Champions League qualification berth.

Stuttgart made it five wins in a row to continue their climb up the table with victory over high-flying Hertha Berlin.

Geoffroy Serey Die's first Bundesliga goal and a Filip Kostic strike helped Jurgen Kramny's men extend their unbeaten run to seven games with a 2-0 win at the Mercedes-Benz-Arena.

Wolfsburg ended a seven-game wait for a win by beating Ingolstadt 2-0 at the Volkswagen Arena.

Julian Draxler gave the Wolves the lead just shy of the half-hour mark, meeting Daniel Caligiuri's cross with a neat finish in front of Ramazan Ozcan.

Robin Knoche added a second before half-time, turning a loose ball in from close range after Ozcan only parried Max Kruse's shot on the turn.

Cologne came from behind to beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-1 at the Mungersdorferstadion and keep in the chase for a European place next season.

Alexander Meier put the visitors in front with a clinical finish from Szabolcs Huszti's pass, but Yannick Gerhardt brought the hosts level shortly afterwards.

A Dominique Heintz header put Cologne in front on the day he signed a new contract to stay with the club until 2021, and Anthony Modeste wrapped up victory with his 10th goal of the season.

Julian Nagelsmann picked up a point on his coaching debut as his Hoffenheim side drew 1-1 at Werder Bremen.

Nagelsmann, the youngest coach to have sat on the bench of a Bundesliga club at the age of 28, could hardly have imagined a better start with Andrej Kramaric heading them in front from close range after nine minutes.

Their joy was short-lived, however, with Papy Djilobodji meeting a 13th-minute corner and his shot took a wicked deflection off Ermin Bicakcic, leaving Oliver Baumann no chance in the Hoffenheim goal.
