Alexander Zorniger dismissed by Stuttgart after taking over in May

Stuttgart have sacked coach Alexander Zorniger just 13 games into his three-year deal at the Bundesliga club.

In May, Stuttgart appointed Zorniger, who was released from his duties at second-tier club RB Leipzig earlier in the year.

However, six months on and Stuttgart have lost faith in the coach, with the club currently sitting 16th in the Bundesliga table, having picked up just 10 points from 13 games, while conceding a league high 31 goals -- four of them came in last weekend's 4-0 defeat to bottom-placed Augsburg.

"The manner of our defeat on Saturday has bothered us," Stuttgart president Bernd Wahler said in a statement announcing the sacking. "We have analysed and evaluated the impact on the team and on the coaching staff and this morning came to this decision."

Zorniger's assistant coaches -- Andre Trulsen, Armin Reutershahn and Andreas Menger -- have also been dismissed, the club announced.

Jurgen Kramny has been appointed as caretaker coach, having worked with the club's under-23 side since 2011.

Stuttgart have now changed their coach 10 times since winning the 2007 Bundesliga title under Armin Veh, who briefly returned last season only to resign after just 12 matches.

The 2007 German champions have gone through a difficult few years, having twice finished just above the relegation zone -- both times being led to safety by now-Hoffenheim boss Huub Stevens.
