Bayern Munich crush Dortmund, lengthen Bundesliga lead; Bayer draw

Bayern Munich sent even more records tumbling as they opened up a seven-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga on Sunday.

A 5-1 win over Borussia Dortmund saw Pep Guardiola's men assert their authority on the Bundesliga with their eighth straight win since the start of the season, equalling a club and league record with braces from Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski and an additional goal from Mario Gotze.

Lewandowski's eighth and ninth goals in his last three Bundesliga appearances was a new record, with the Poland international striker joining Gerd Muller and Christian Muller as the third player to have 12 goals after only eight games of the season.

The only consolation for Dortmund was a goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, which meant he extended his record of having scored in each of Dortmund's first eight games of the season, netting in his last 10 league games including the last two from last season.

Looking ahead, Bayern can set a new league record of nine straight wins from the start of a season when they travel to Werder Bremen after the international break.

Bayer Leverkusen drew 1-1 with visiting Augsburg, who took the lead in the 12th minute when goalkeeper Bernd Leno misjudged a simple back pass, kicked air and let the ball roll into the net.

Karim Bellarabi equalised on a rebound in the 39th minute after Javier Hernandez's initial effort hit the post.

Cologne brought an abrupt end to Schalke's six-game winning streak with an emphatic 3-0 win at the Arena AufSchalke.

After going close on two occasions to beating Ralf Fahrmann, Anthony Modeste finally found the back of the net on the stroke of half-time with his low shot hitting the underside of the Schalke goalkeeper's body with the ball looping into the roof of the net.

Yannick Gerhardt, who had been a thorn in Schalke's side, doubled the Goats' advantage before substitute Simon Zoller sealed a deserved away win for Peter Stoger's men, who have now won their last three meetings with the Royal Blues.
