Mexico Football Federation general secretary Guillermo Cantu confirmed that El Tri sought the services of Jurgen Klopp but were turned down. Klopp is currently on sabbatical since ending a seven-year spell in charge of Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season, but he has been linked with a number of clubs including Liverpool and Bayern Munich. Mexico, who are still seeking a permanent replacement for Miguel Herrera, had hoped to tempt the German into international management, but the former Mainz boss rejected the offer. "We sought him out through his agent, but he told us it would not be possible because he wants to continue to take a break for right now," Cantu said on TV Azteca's "Marcaje Persona." Cantu said Klopp was an ideal candidate to coach Mexico, although he admitted that "a coach like Klopp would be at a disadvantage over the short term" because he is not familiar with Mexican football and doesn't speak Spanish. Cantu also said that negotiations continue with other managerial candidates and the search has been complicated by their current contracts. Cantu said Marcelo Bielsa has all but been rejected as a candidate because he is not available to have a discussion. Cantu said that talks continue with Juan Carlos Osorio, although he would not elaborate. Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc believes Klopp could become the next Bayern Munich boss, telling Sport Bild ahead of Der Klassiker: "It's factually conceivable."
