Marco Reus misses Germany's Euro 2016 qualifiers with toe injury

Marco Reus has been ruled out of Germany's upcoming European Championship qualifiers with a toe injury, the German FA (DFB) announced on Thursday morning.

Reus will miss Germany's matches against group D leaders Poland in Frankfurt and the away trip to Scotland next Monday.

"The 26-year-old left the Germany camp in Frankfurt late on Wednesday," a statement on the DFB's official website read. "The DFB's medical department diagnosed a slightly broken distal phalanx of his left big toe."

The Borussia Dortmund attacker suffered the "painful injury" in the Bundesliga leaders' 3-1 defeat of Hertha Berlin and has returned to Dortmund, where he will receive further treatment.

The BVB attacker has played in seven of Dortmund's eight competitive matches this season, scoring six goals and providing one assist.

Reus was ruled out of the 2014 World Cup after sustaining an ankle injury in the final minutes of Germany's last friendly ahead of the tournament in Brazil. He also missed parts of the last Bundesliga season with mostly ankle problems.

Germany are currently second in Group D, one point behind Poland and two points ahead of Scotland.
