Huub Stevens returns as Stuttgart coach after Armin Veh resigns

Huub Stevens has returned for another stint as Stuttgart coach a day after Armin Veh's departure, the Bundesliga club have announced.

Veh resigned on Monday, just four months into his second spell at the club he led to the Bundesliga title in 2007.

However, the 53-year-old's return was not a happy one as he managed only two wins in 12 games before leaving with the club bottom of the Bundesliga table.

On Tuesday, Stuttgart announced the return of another former coach in the form of Stevens, who left in the summer after helping the club avoid relegation.

The Dutchman, who also worked for Schalke, Hertha Berlin and Hamburg, is back at the Mercedes-Benz Arena only months after saving them from relegation last term.

"The 60-year-old takes over with immediate effect," the club said in a statement, with kicker reporting that Stevens is set to sign a contract until the end of the season.
