Timo Hildebrand signs for Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt have signed veteran keeper Timo Hildebrand as a replacement for the injured shot-stopper Kevin Trapp.

Trapp, 24, suffered a ligament injury in his ankle in Frankfurt's 2-2 draw with FSV Mainz 05 on Tuesday. He underwent surgery on Thursday morning, and has been ruled out for the rest of 2014.

The keeper was replaced by 24-year-old Felix Wiedewald in the final minutes of the match, and the former MSV Duisburg man, who has only made two brief Bundesliga appearances, is set to start for Frankfurt at bottom-of-the-league Hamburger SV at the weekend.

"We can 100 percent put our trust in Felix," Frankfurt coach Thomas Schaaf told kicker.

However, Die Adler on Thursday announced the signing of former Germany international Hildebrand, 35, who had been without an employer since his contract at FC Schalke 04 ran out at the end of last season.

Ahead of the season, Frankfurt dissolved their reserve team, and started the season with only two keepers.

Hildebrand, who won seven caps for Germany and has played in 298 Bundesliga games, already trained with Eintracht on Thursday.
