Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has been left behind as the squad jetted off for their preseason tour of the U.S. on Wednesday due to a visa problem.

Rummenigge, 58, remained in Bavaria while coach Pep Guardiola and his players boarded the plane for their trans-Atlantic flight.

The German champions will meet Chivas in New York on Thursday followed by a game against an MLS All-Star XI in Portland, Ore., on Aug. 7.

Rummenigge may yet get to see those games in person, but has had to wait to receive the necessary visa to enter the country from US authorities.

"We have to wait for the visa," Bayern's press chief Markus Horwick told TZ before leaving for the States. "If it doesn't come through for Thursday, he will fly directly to Portland."
