Thorgan Hazard has said he wants to develop his career on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach from Chelsea and could stay with the Bundesliga club for two years.

The 21-year-old younger brother of Chelsea's Eden Hazard joined Monchengladbach on a one-year loan from Stamford Bridge earlier this month.

He moved to Chelsea from Lens in 2012, but has plied his trade on loan at Belgium outfit Zulte-Waregem for the past two seasons.

Although the midfielder has won one cap for Belgium he was not part of their World Cup squad, and fanzine Torfabrik.de quoted him as telling reporters: "My brother currently plays on a different level than I do.

"I am currently on my way to where my brother already is. After two good years in Belgium, I am taking the next step.

"Let's see how it all pans out and what ideas the coach has. I want to play and, if everything fits, I might stay here for another year."

Tabloid Bild reported him as saying the plan "is that I will play for Chelsea one day."

Elsewhere, attacker Peniel Mlapa is set to leave Monchengladbach. The former Germany under-21 international has already begun talks with interested clubs.

"There are one, two clubs that he is talking to. He should find a good solution, but we'll manage that," Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl told Rheinische Post.
