Giovanni Simeone wants to follow Diego Milito example at Genoa

Genoa forward Giovanni Simeone has set his sights on emulating Diego Milito after making an impressive start to life at the club.

Milito scored 60 goals in 90 games for Genoa, helping them earn a place in the Europa League in 2009.

Simeone, the son of Atletico Madrid coach Diego, has scored two goals in his first four games.

He told Mediaset: "It's been an incredible start for me and for the team.

"We're delighted with how things are at the moment. Things really got going for me in the Napoli game [when only some fine saves by Pepe Reina denied him] and I'm happy.

"I know that Diego Milito did really well here, and it would be great to do like him.

"I'd like to thank everybody for the faith they have always shown in me. My father's happy."
