Flamengo and Corinthians to promote 'Biggest Derby in the Americas' clashes

Brazil's two biggest clubs want to promote their future clashes as "The Biggest Derby in the Americas," says an ESPN Brazil report.

Flamengo, which boast more than 32 million domestic fans, and Corinthians, which claim upwards of 27 million, are looking to give a name to their mega-matches going forward.

According to the report, the two clubs' marketing departments have united ahead of the two giants' meeting at Rio de Janeiro's Maracana on Sunday, and have planned a social media campaign to begin Friday.

In addition to enjoying Brazil's largest fanbases, Flamengo and Corinthians receive more domestic TV money than any other club in the country.

The two clubs' rivalry has heightened recently with the Rio side contracting two of Corinthians' star players over the past two months, in Peru striker Paulo Guerrero and Brazilian midfielder Emerson Sheik, and reports suggest the Rubro-Negros have offered a third, Brazil international Elias, in recent days.
