Uruguay midfielder Cristian Rodriguez has arrived in Brazil from Europe to sign a loan deal with Gremio, the team coached by Luiz Felipe Scolari.
Rodriguez belongs to Atletico Madrid but has been playing on loan with Parma in Italy.
Gremio said hundreds of fans welcomed Rodriguez when he arrived at Porto Alegre airport on Tuesday.
Contract details have not been disclosed.
Rodriguez, who was a starter for Uruguay in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, helped his national side win the 2011 Copa America and won the Spanish league title with Atletico last season.
On Monday, Gremio announced the signing of former Sao Paulo midfielder Maicon.
