Tom Cairney commits to Fulham with five-year deal

Fulham captain Tom Cairney has signed a new five-year deal with the newly promoted Premier League club amid speculation over his future.

Cairney, 27, had been heavily linked with a potential move to West Ham, but has now tied his future to Craven Cottage until the summer of 2023.

"I'm obviously delighted to extend my contract, it's all I've wanted to do, and I'm just buzzing to get the season underway," Cairney told Fulham's website.

"Premier League football is back at the Cottage and it's great to be part of the squad that got us there again."

Cairney has played for Fulham for three years since joining for Blackburn, scoring 27 goals in 130 appearances.

He scored the only goal in the Championship playoff final as Fulham beat Aston Villa in May to earn promotion back to the Premier League.
