Fulham's Ryan Tunnicliffe suspended two games for tweet

Fulham midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe has been suspended for two games and fined for tweeting an offensive message about Patrick Bamford's sexuality, the Football Association has announced.

The 22-year-old admitted a FA charge of "aggravated misconduct by reference to sexual orientation," the governing body said in a statement, and will miss the first two games of the season while paying a fine of £5,000.

Tunnicliffe published a tweet containing a homophobic slur about Chelsea striker Bamford following Middlesbrough's play-off defeat to Norwich in May. Bamford was on loan with Boro last season.

The FA said Tunnicliffe -- a former Manchester United youth team player -- would also attend a mandatory education course.
