Monaco are to make a police complaint following incidents that left eight people injured after Wednesday's Coupe de la Ligue semifinal defeat at home to Bastia.

Five supporters, two policemen and a steward were hurt when around one hundred Bastia fans spilled onto the pitch at the Stade Louis II following their team's penalty shootout win.

The Corsican side will now face holders Paris Saint-Germain in the final at the Stade de France on April 11.

"Even if this pitch invasion was, for most of the Bastia fans, motivated only by a desire to show their joy and congratulate their team, some of them behaved unacceptably," a statement by the Monaco government read.

"The government condemns the irresponsible attitude of certain Bastia fans, and regrets the relative passivity of those in the club at the end of the game during the initial attempts to invade the pitch."

In addition to the pitch invasion, a number of seats were ripped out and thrown at stewards and police by some of the estimated 2,000 Bastia supporters who had travelled to the mainland to follow their side.

Bastia have long been plagued by hooligan elements among their support base. Following a number of incidents last season, some 44 police were injured in clashes between Bastia and Marseille fans before and after the club's 3-3 draw on the opening day of the current campaign.
