Ibrahimovic sends PSG through in Coupe de France, Monaco score 10

Zlatan Ibrahimovic headed home the winner as Paris Saint-Gemain started the defence of their Coupe de France title with a scrappy 1-0 win over fourth-tier side Wasquehal on Sunday.

Playing their first game in 2016, PSG were in control throughout and created multiple chances but lacked a cutting edge until the Sweden international connected with Marco Verratti's long ball on the hour mark.

Having opened up a 19-point lead at the top of the French league standings in just 19 games, PSG are looking to reproduce the domestic treble that Laurent Blanc's side achieved last season when they won the league title, the League Cup and the Coupe de France.

Lacina Traore scored four first-half goals and then got sent off as Monaco thrashed part-timers St Jean Beaulieu 10-2.

The Ivorian, who had a loan spell at Everton two years ago, was dismissed for violent conduct with his side leading 5-0 at Stade Louis II.

Fabinho got on the scoresheet with two penalties and there were also goals for Andrea Raggi, Fares Bahlouli, Helder Costa and Mario Pasalic.

St Jean Beaulieu, who also finished with 10 men after Yann Mariotti was sent off, claimed consolation goals through Arthur Leblanc and Faycal Sahour.

Ten-time winner Marseille beat Caen on penalties in the day's only match between top-tier teams -- despite playing for an hour with 10 men following Karim Rekik's dismissal in the 61st minute for a reckless tackle.

Lyon's new coach Bruno Genesio, who replaced Hubert Fournier during the winter break, celebrated his first game in charge with a 7-0 thrashing of fifth-division Limoges after Maxwell Cornet and Rachid Ghezzal each scored a brace.

Montpellier, who also changed coach during the festive period and appointed former player Pascal Baills following Rolland Courbis' resignation, defeated fifth-tier Epernay 1-0.

Bordeaux needed an injury-time winner from Diego Alejandro to see off Championnat National side Frejus Saint-Raphael 3-2.

Bordeaux twice trailed to goals by Gregory Gendrey but both were cancelled out by Cheick Diabate and Alejandro completed the comeback with a fine volley.

They will be joined in the next round by St Etienne, who needed penalties to see off fourth-tier side Raon-L'Etape.

Neal Maupay's first-half opener was cancelled out for the minnows by Jonathan Clauss just before the hour but Les Verts prevailed 4-3 on spot-kicks.

Lorient needed extra time to see off Ligue 2 opposition in Tours, winning 3-2 with a 99th-minute goal from Benjamin Jeannot.

Lorient had twice led in normal time after a penalty from Abdul Waris and an effort from Romain Philippoteaux but replies came from Ibrahima Tandia and Haris Belkebla.

Other sides to progress included Montpellier, Ajaccio and Lille. They all recorded 1-0 wins, over Epernay, Volvic and Amiens, respectively. Guingamp hammered Chantilly 4-0.
