France introduces attack alert app ahead of Euro 2016

France has launched a new app ahead of Euro 2016 to alert users to attacks.

The Interior Ministry app, called "SAIP," provides a warning to users if there is an attack near their location or lets them know if there is suspicion of a strike.

The app also permits users to request alerts for up to eight geographic locations, including districts in Paris.

France is currently under a state of emergency following the terrorist attacks in Paris last November, which saw 130 people killed.

The UK this week warned supporters travelling to France for Euro 2016 that stadiums, fan zones and transport hubs were "potential targets for terrorist attacks," with the United States also cautioning citizens about making the trip for the tournament.
