Deschamps: Benzema injury doubt for France-Armenia friendly, Gignac ready

Didier Deschamps says that Karim Benzema is an injury doubt for France's friendly against Armenia on Tuesday.

The France coach confirmed that the 26-year-old Real Madrid forward would not train with his squad on Monday after picking up a minor foot injury.

"Nothing too bad, he will not train today," Deschamps told a news conference on Monday.

With Benzema potentially missing Les Bleus' trip to Armenia, Deschamps could call upon Andre-Pierre Gignac to start, adding: "It is a given that Gignac will play more than against Portugal."

Gignac -- who replaced Benzema in the 90th minute of France's 2-1 victory over Portugal on Saturday -- has scored nine goals in nine games for Marseille this season as they lead Ligue 1 by five points.

France have automatically qualified for Euro 2016 as hosts, and currently have further friendlies against Albania (twice) and Denmark scheduled before the tournament.
