Bayern's Douglas Costa arrives in Turin ahead of planned move to Juventus

Douglas Costa arrived in Turin on Tuesday night ahead of his expected move to Juventus from Bayern Munich.

Juve general manager Beppe Marotta held talks with Bayern executives in Bavaria about a deal for the 26-year-old, who is set to undergo a medical on Wednesday before an initial loan leading to a permanent transfer.

The deal is similar to the ones that saw Kingsley Coman complete a move to Bayern after a year on loan at the club and Medhi Benatia stay with Juventus after his season-long loan in Turin.

Costa was greeted at the airport by Juventus, who posted video of his arrival on social media along with messages of "Welcome Costa." The player himself then exchanged messages with Benatia.

Bayern's loan signing of James Rodriguez on Tuesday helped accelerate the sale of Costa who, according to Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, had asked for a transfer.

"The player has informed us he would like to move and we have then taken up talks according to his wishes," Rummenigge said at a news conference earlier this week.

"But let there be no two ways about it: there is a fee and, if this fee is reached, we are ready not only to consider it but also to finalise it."

Costa moved to Bayern from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2015 and made 50 Bundesliga appearances for them.

He is set to become Juve's second summer signing following the arrival of Patrik Schick from Sampdoria.
