FIFPro calls for Sepp Blatter resignation documents to be released

World players' union FIFPro wants FIFA to publish all documents linked to Sepp Blatter's decision to resign.

The union says there should be "full accountability to the players and all other stakeholders, including the fans, who have been made to suffer by the crisis of confidence enveloping FIFA as football's global governing body."

FIFPro said it hoped that a reform of football's governing body would also see an end to rules that limit players' employment rights, a longstanding demand of the union.

Blatter announced his resignation on Tuesday in the face of an FBI and U.S. prosecutors' investigation into corruption that has upturned world football's governing body.

Blatter had been re-elected to a fifth term as FIFA president. Then, just three days later he revealed plans to step down from the post, saying a special election would be held between December 2015 and March 2016 to appoint his successor.

ABC News also reported on Tuesday that Blatter, while not among the 14 FIFA officials and sports marketers indicted Wednesday, is a target of the probe.
