Report: Scotland-Nigeria match probed

LONDON -- The Scottish Football Federation said on Tuesday it was in contact with "relevant authorities" following allegations of attempted match-fixing involving a friendly between Scotland and Nigeria in London.

The Daily Telegraph newspaper reported on its website on Tuesday that officers from the National Crime Agency were investigating attempts to fix Wednesday's match at Fulham's Craven Cottage ground.

The paper said the NCA has asked FIFA "to issue an alert over potential attempts to rig the game."

The NCA, which investigates organised crime, and FIFA both declined to comment on the report but the Scottish football federation said in a statement to The Associated Press it "liaised with the relevant authorities and will prepare for the match as normal."

The game between Scotland and World Cup-bound Nigeria is part of a string of warm-up matches ahead of the tournament in Brazil next month.
