Samir Nasri's girlfriend has apologised to the people of France after posting expletive-laden tweets complaining about her partner's omission from his country's World Cup squad.

Anara Atanes reacted to the decision with a series of angry messages directed at France and manager Didier Deschamps in particular, but the model has since backed down.

Nasri helped Manchester City win two trophies this season, scoring in both the Capital One Cup final and the final game of the Premier League campaign.
The former Arsenal midfielder, who was also omitted from France's 2010 World Cup squad and who was not even put on Deschamps' seven-man standby list after the manager expressed doubts about his willingness to sit on the bench, is now considering international retirement.

He told Sky Sports News: "It's a little bit hard to accept. I need to take some time now to think about the national team because it's been twice now that they take away a World Cup from me.
"You can go around and ask any player if they're happy to be on the bench, nobody's going to say yes."
Left-back Gael Clichy was a second City player ignored by Deschamps when he preferred to pick Manchester United's Patrice Evra and Paris Saint-Germain's Lucas Digne.
The defender, speaking after City beat Al Ain 3-0 in a friendly on Thursday, said: "It's life and if it is my only bad luck then I am happy because my family are healthy.
"Of course I am sad, it is a big tournament you don't want to miss, but I will be fresh for next year, so that is good.
"As for City, I have a three-year contract and the boss has faith in me so I will keep giving my best."
