Alex Iwobi, Kelechi Iheanacho score as Nigeria beat Zambia in WC qualifying

Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho both found the back of the net as Nigeria defeated Zambia 2-1 to top Group B in their third-round World Cup qualifying campaign.

Arsenal midfielder Iwobi opened the scoring for the Super Eagles in the 32nd minute, firing into the bottom corner following a knockback to net his first international goal.

And Manchester City striker Iheanacho then doubled Nigeria's lead 10 minutes later as he latched onto a through ball before rounding the keeper and slotting home.

Collins Mbesuma pulled one back for Zambia in the 71st minute, but the visitors were able to hang on to their lead and record a victory in their Group B opener.

Egypt moved top of Group E after coming from behind to see off Congo with a 2-1 win.

Congo had taken the lead through a 24th-minute Ferebory Dore strike, only for Mohamed Salah to equalise for the visitors shortly before half-time.

And Egypt then completed the turnaround 13 minutes after the restart, with Abdallah Saied firing them in front with a goal that proved to be the winner.

Tunisia toppled Ghana 2-0 thanks to goals from Aymen Abdennour and Änis Ben-Hatira in Group A play.

Abdennour opened the North Africans' account in the 58th minute. Ben-Hatira then sealed the three points 10 minutes from time.

Algeria and Cameroon battled to a 1-1 draw in Group B play.

El Arabi Hilal Soudani found the home side their opener in the seventh minute, but Benjamin Moukandjo cancelled out his effort 17 minutes later to share the point at the Stade Mustapha Tchaker.

The five group winners qualify for the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia.
