England Women want to dominate like All Blacks - Phil Neville

England women's coach Phil Neville said that his players want to be remembered in the same way as the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team.

Since his appointment in January 2018, Neville has guided the national team to World Cup qualification and they lifted the SheBelievesCup in the U.S. last month.

"I was sat in a room with my team just before we played Russia 12 months ago and we were talking about objectives for the next year," he said.

"What blew me away was that I wanted them just to say we will win the World Cup, because I was thinking about winning, and they went bigger.

"They said over the next five or 10 years they wanted the Lionesses to be one of the greatest sports teams in the world, and to be talked about like the All Blacks and leave legacies that the kids of today will remember."

The women's game has grown in Europe this season with a record attendance of 60,739 watching Atletico Madrid's game against Barcelona at the Wanda Metropolitano in March.

Neville has called on England's biggest clubs to hold women's matches at their stadiums and he also believes that the women's game is gaining more support due to the quality on show.

"They were thinking bigger than even I thought, so I had to alter my objectives," he said. "Society has changed now, there are people coming to watch women's football not because the tickets are free but due to the product."
