Australia to face Chile twice at home in prep for Women's World Cup

The Australian national women's soccer team will return to action on home soil in November with matches against Chile in Penrith and Newcastle.

The matches against the world No. 39 and recent Copa America runners-up have been arranged to help the Matildas prepare for next year's FIFA Women's World Cup.

The Young Lionesses have twice before reached the quarterfinals, in 2002 and 2008, and looked to be heading for more heartbreak after conceding an early goal against Netherlands, but Georgia Stanway's quick-fire brace secured a famous win.

However, they face a stern test against Japan, who denied an all-European last four party with three...

The country became the first African nation to host a men's FIFA World Cup when they welcomed the world in 2010, and Jordaan is determined to add the women's showpiece to the list as well.

The SAFA president, who was re-elected to his post last week, told assembled media on Thursday that bidding...
