Carlo Ancelotti: Real Madrid will be ready for Club World Cup final

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said he had no preferred opponent for Saturday's Club World Cup final after seeing his side ease through with a 4-0 semifinal win over Mexican club Cruz Azul.

Madrid went ahead early through Sergio Ramos' header, with Karim Benzema making it 2-0 just after the half-hour mark.

A penalty before the break appeared to give Cruz Azul some hope, but Blancos captain Iker Casillas saved from counterpart Gerardo Torrado. Gareth Bale and Isco then netted in the second half.

The reigning Champions League holders will now be big favourites against either Argentine side San Lorenzo or Auckland City of New Zealand in Saturday's final.

Ancelotti told his postmatch news conference at the Grand Stade de Marrakech that his side's preparations would be thorough no matter how the opponent is.

"San Lorenzo have more experience than Auckland, but in football anything can happen," he said. "We are going to prepare the final well, whoever the rival is."

Ancelotti said his team had gone about their work well against Cruz Azul, adding: "It is never easy, but the team played well and won. Now we will have to prepare for the final and see how that goes for us."

The game continued an apparent return to top form for Casillas, whose penalty save was his second in two games, following a similar stop in last Friday's 4-1 La Liga win at Almeria.

Ancelotti accepted a reporter's question that the game could have become more difficult but for the long-serving club captain's intervention.

"The moment in which [Casillas] saved the penalty was key," he said. "With 2-0 the game seemed over, and they could have opened it up again. He made a very good save."

The night proved more frustrating for Madrid talisman Cristiano Ronaldo, who showed some spectacular flashes of skill but ended the game without a goal, although he did add two more to his impressive tally of assists this season.

"[Ronaldo] played very well -- he gave two assists," Ancelotti said. "He is always very effective, even when he does not score. For sure he is saving up a goal for the final."

Pressed about Ronaldo's attempt to score with an on-the-run half-volleyed rabona, Ancelotti claimed not to have seen that particular effort.

"I did not see him shoot like that, but with Cristiano nothing surprises you," he said.

Ramos' eventful night included a goal and conceding the first half-penalty, before the centre-back was substituted during the second half with an apparent thigh muscle problem. Ancelotti played down the issue.

"I do not believe it is anything to worry about because it seems to be just a strain," he said. "In two days he can be fine, and available for the final."
