Vincent Aboubakar closes the door on FC Porto return

Besiktas loanee Vincent Aboubakar has refused to countenance a return to parent club FC Porto at the end of the season as his future remains uncertain.

The Cameroon attacker was suspended on Thursday evening as the Turkish giants crashed out of the Europa League on penalties after a 7-6 defeat by Olympique Lyonnais, but was quizzed by French source RMC ahead of the match on his plans after the current campaign.

The 25-year-old moved to Porto from FC Lorient in August 2014, but despite impressing sporadically for the Portuguese heavyweights, was deemed surplus to requirements at the beginning of the season.

"I will not return to Porto," the attacker said categorically. "Regardless of the conditions, I won't go back to Porto.

"It's a personal decision," he explained. "Even if there's money, what's important for me is to go somewhere where you're respected, where they know your value."

Aboubakar took his time to find his form in Turkey, failing to score in his first seven matches, but has hit a purple patch in 2017, scoring seven since the beginning of February.

However, Bestikas fans have also seen Aboubakar's failings -- notably his suspect temperament -- as well as his goalscoring qualities, and the Central African has been sent off three times already this term -- against Dynamo Kyiv, Olympiakos and Antalyaspor.

The dismissal against the Greeks -- after he attacked an opponent -- led to a suspension for both of Besiktas's Europa League quarterfinals against Lyon.

While a return to Portugal has been ruled out by the forward, he's acknowledged that he's not adverse to heading back to France, where he played between 2012 and 2014.

"France? I don't know," he continued. "I can't see the future. We'll soon see the right moment to see how things unravel."

Aboubakar has seven goals in 20 Super Lig appearances this season, with both West Ham United and Everton having been linked to his signature. He also emerged as the unlikely hero for the Indomitable Lions at the 2017 Nations Cup when he scored the winner in the final against Egypt.
