Cologne boss Peter Stoger signs new four-year contract

Cologne coach Peter Stoger has signed a new four-year contract.

Former Austria international Stoger took charge of the club in 2013 and won promotion to the Bundesliga at the end of his first season in charge.

The Billy Goats secured top-flight survival last term and are in mid-table at the halfway point of the current campaign. The club have now tied the 49-year-old into a new contract until 2020.

Cologne's executive director for sport Jorg Schmadtke, quoted on the official Bundesliga website, said: "Peter Stoger is the ideal coach for Cologne.

"We are working successfully together, and want to continue that success with both Stoger and his backroom staff. The contract extension is a sign of the trust we have in our fantastic coach. He is very popular in the city and amongst the fans."
