Augsburg sack manager Dirk Schuster and his coaching staff

Bundesliga side Augsburg have sacked coach Dirk Schuster and his coaching staff after a disappointing start to the season.

The club say analysis of the current sporting situation revealed "differing views on the continued sporting orientation and way that Augsburg wants to play football."

Schuster, along with assistant coaches Sascha Franz and Frank Steinmetz, were released with immediate effect.

Youth coach Manuel Baum will take over an interim basis.

Augsburg are 13th in the 18-team Bundesliga with three wins in 14 games. The club lost at Hamburg on Saturday and had drawn their previous three matches.

Schuster joined Augsburg in the summer to replace Markus Weinzierl, who left for Schalke.

The 48-year-old previously led Darmstadt from the third division to the Bundesliga.
