Fan dies after collapsing at Everton match at Goodison Park

Everton says a man who attended the team's English Premier League match against Stoke on Saturday has died in hospital after falling ill during the game.

The club says in a statement that the 51-year-old man, who was seated in the Sir Philip Carter Park Stand at Goodison Park, became unwell at 4.15 p.m. local time.

Everton said police officers, an off-duty doctor and medical staff performed CPR on the man before an ambulance arrived.

He died shortly after arriving at a hospital.

"The thoughts and prayers of everybody at the football club are with his family and friends," the club statement said.
