Everton manager Roberto Martinez hit out at the refereeing in his side's 3-3 draw against Chelsea after John Terry scored a late leveller for the Blues.
Everton led 2-0 before being pegged back to 2-2 and then took a 3-2 lead when Ramiro Funes Mori scored in the 90th minute.
But John Terry netted in the eighth minute of injury time when seven minutes had been signalled, with the Chelsea captain in an offside position when he equalised.
Asked if he thought Everton had won the game, Martinez replied: "I think we did.
"That's why it's such a difficult game to analyse because there's an aspect which is the game -- I thought it was a terrific football game, once we got two-goal lead I would have wanted to control the game a bit better, but with the quality Chelsea have they are always capable of getting back into scoring positions.
"They had a bit of fortune with the second goal and from that point on it would have been all too easy to lay down and allow the home team to take over. We never accepted that and scoring the third goal for me is a victory.
"From that point on I can talk about the fantastic performance we had, the character, the combination of being hurt and being able to react to score three goals away from home.
"Then there's the understandable feeling of having to drop two points in a game where we had to play seven minutes of injury time and the last action happens in seven minutes and 51 seconds. Not five or 10 seconds, it's 51 seconds, nearly a minute, and John Terry is two yards offside.
"Refereeing-wise, you can't justify or explain that level and it cost us two points. You can imagine the players are feeling really down but they've got no reason to feel that way, because two points have been taken away from us. The performance was good enough to win.
"No. It was seven minutes and the fourth official made it very clear that it's time before the ball was played into the box. So it's not a debate, an action that could be seen in a different manner. Maybe referees need a bit of help in technology and the whole ground should see how long is left on a big clock.
"To have a player two yards offside in the box is unacceptable. It should have been offside and it doesn't come down to interpretation at all. It's a heartbreaking moment for us because we deserved the three points. The demands in this league are huge and the refereeing wasn't up to the level. That's very, very frustrating."
