Jonas Hector returns to Germany training ahead of Italy clash

Germany have a fully fit squad to choose from ahead of their Euro 2016 quarterfinal with Italy after Jonas Hector overcome a cold to take part in training.

The 26-year-old Cologne defender was the only doubt for the world champions, but in a prematch news conference Germany general manager Oliver Bierhoff confirmed the news, adding "the situation is very positive."

Bierhoff, a part of the Germany squad that won the European Championship in 1996, is expecting a tough match against Italy, and said they were "definitely the hardest opponent we could meet, not because we always had difficulties against them historically, but because this team is really well organised, concentrated, and has shown itself to be strong in the games so far."

Italy have been one of the success stories of the tournament so far, beating Belgium in their opening game and eliminating holders Spain in the round of 16.

"It will be a tough battle," Bierhoff added. "There's huge respect for the Italian team, but no fear."
