Arsenal's Hector Bellerin called up to Spain's final Euro 2016 squad

Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin has been called up to Spain's squad for Euro 2016 after an injury to Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal in the Champions League final.

Bellerin, 21, has had a fine season for the Gunners and was nominated for the Premier League Young Player of the Year award, but only made his senior debut for Spain on Sunday in the 2-1 win against Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Spain initially announced 19 of their 23-man squad on Tuesday, then later added the final four players from those who played in the Champions League final on Saturday: Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos and Lucas Vazquez with Atletico's Juanfran and Koke.

"It is a dream come true," Vazquez wrote on Twitter.

Real Madrid's Isco and Atletico's Saul Niguez were the last players to miss out on the final squad.

"We have tried to select a balanced squad and I think every position is well covered in this 23," Del Bosque said at a news conference. "I've not spoken personally to any of the players who've been left behind. Everyone wanted to be here, but we only had 23 spots."

Bellerin had told reporters at Spain's training camp on Sunday: "I am available for whenever the coach needs me. I am delighted with the experience. I had holidays planned with my family, but I am happy to have cancelled them due to this call from the national team."

Carvajal told Cope Radio that he was disappointed not to make the squad after being forced out of the Champions League final in the second half with a muscle tear.

"I feel pretty angry all over," he said. "You fight for two years to get into the squad, and I feel disappointed for myself with the bad luck I have had. I was out of the last squad, then worked very hard to get into the preliminary squad, and now look... I am injured and I can only wish good luck to the rest of the them.

"I had a small problem for two weeks getting ready for the final. After 15 minutes I felt pain, I held on until the break as I could. But when the second half started I could not hold on anymore.

"I had said it to the physios at half-time, and told Danilo to get ready as I would not last the whole game. The physios told me to come off if I felt anything more. I can deal with pain, but it was just too much. I knew I had to come off, and for sure I was going to miss the Euros."
