Dimitri Payet has earned spot in France's Euro 2016 squad - Deschamps

France coach Didier Deschamps is certain that Dimitri Payet will be in his final squad for Euro 2016 if the West Ham playmaker manages to keep up his current form.

Last Friday Payet, 28, made his first appearance for his national team since June 2015 and he stood out as Deschamps' side won 3-2 against Netherlands in Amsterdam.

The former Marseille attacking midfielder has been in fantastic form at club level, scoring 11 goals and making 11 more in his first season for the Hammers.

On Friday, Payet hit the post and Deschamps, 47, agreed it was the returning player's best game for the Euro 2016 hosts.

France's 1998 World Cup-winning captain indicated that Payet is now in a great position to make the 23-man squad for this summer's tournament.

"If I take him, it's because I'm convinced or I think he can bring something," Deschamps told French TV show Telefoot on Sunday.

"He has a very particular style -- he's capable of making others play.

"By maintaining this standard and what he has done, it's no longer a question of taking him to the Euros or not."

Following Friday's game, Payet said he had never had any problem with Deschamps but that a clear-the-air discussion with the manager had acted as a "trigger" for his performance in Amsterdam.

France host Russia at the Stade de France on Tuesday in their last game before Deschamps names his squad for Euro 2016 on May 12.
