Espanyol have sacked coach Sergio Gonzalez following a poor run of form and appointed Constantin Galca as their new coach until the end of the season.
The club said Galca will be presented to fans late Monday after leading his first training session with the squad.
Galca will be accompanied by club president Joan Collet and sporting director Oscar Perarnau, "who will explain the details of this new stage" the club said in a statement.

Saturday's 1-0 defeat to high-flying Celta Vigo proved to be the final straw for the 39-year-old Gonzalez, who has seen his side win just one of their last seven La Liga matches, a run of form which has left them 12th in the table.
Gonzalez, a former Espanyol player, was promoted from the club's reserve side to replace Javier Aguirre in the first-team hotseat in May 2014.

A statement on www.rcdespanyol.com read: "Sergio Gonzalez is no longer the first-team coach after the Espanyol board decided, in the last few hours, to relieve him of his duties.
"Espanyol want to thank Sergio Gonzalez for his dedication with the first team and wish him the best both professionally and personally.''
The Barcelona-based club also announced that two members of Gonzalez's backroom team will also be leaving the Estadi Cornella-El Prat -- assistant coach Diego Ribera and trainer Miquel Gomila.
Espanyol have not named a replacement for Gonzalez but former Espanyol and Romania defender Constantin Galca has been linked with the post in the Spanish media.
