Huddersfield and U.S. midfielder Danny Williams: It's a good thing to face Spurs now

Huddersfield Town and U.S. international midfielder Danny Williams has told ESPN FC that it's a good time to be facing Tottenham ahead of the sides' clash on Saturday.

Spurs suffered three consecutive defeats in all competitions for the first time under Mauricio Pochettino earlier this month but bounced back with a Premier League win away to Brighton and a penalty-shootout victory in the Carabao Cup against Watford this week.

But Huddersfield, who are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table and are without a win in their first six games, will be looking to capitalise on Spurs' uncertain start when they meet at the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

"It's probably a good thing that we face them now," Williams, 29, said. "They've not had the best start to the season but we all know that Tottenham are one of the best teams in the Premier League.

"Playing against them last season was one of the toughest games I've played. Their work-rate is amazing, every player works so hard for the other players and they showed us last year at home what we can expect when they destroyed us.

"But I hope we learn from that game and at the end of the day it's about us. We shouldn't make it easy for them because they should still remember that Huddersfield is not an easy place to go to. I hope that we can still take points out of the game but it's going to be very, very hard."

Williams has made 23 appearances for the U.S. national team but his debut season for Huddersfield following a summer move from Reading was disrupted by injuries.

He missed the final few months of last season after suffering a fractured fibula and has yet to make a Premier League appearance this season.

Williams will be aiming to kick on this campaign and will be looking to the opposition for inspiration on Saturday.

"Harry Kane is a top player, Christian Eriksen is a top player but me personally I've always admired the way [Mousa] Dembele plays," Williams said.

"He uses both feet, he's strong and has amazing technique. I really love to play against him. I've watched him play many times before and I've always thought this guy is the real-deal.

"It was tough to play against him when we played [in Huddersfield's defeat] at Wembley last season. But that's what you aim for as a kid, you want to play against the best players in the world and I just see it as a chance that I find myself in this position to compete against these players. You want to make the most out of it."
