Premier League team news: Injuries and suspensions update

SATURDAY'S GAMES

EVERTON VS. CRYSTAL PALACE

EVERTON: Everton left-back Leighton Baines is edging closer to a return to training but he will not be available. The defender has been out since late November with a calf injury but is likely to be in contention for next week's trip to Watford. Goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg is training again after a groin problem, which has sidelined him since September, while defender Ramiro Funes Mori completed 45 minutes for the under-23s as he continues his comeback from knee surgery.

Provisional squad: Pickford, Coleman, Jagielka, Mangala, Martina, Gueye, Walcott, Rooney, Davies, Sigurdsson, Niasse, Robles, Kenny, Keane, Williams, Holgate, Schneiderlin, Bolasie, Calvert-Lewin, Tosun.

CRYSTAL PALACE: Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha was ruled out for a month with a knee injury. Goalkeeper Julian Speroni (knee) and defender Martin Kelly (hamstring) are also missing, joining Bakary Sako, Jeffrey Schlupp, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Scott Dann, Jason Puncheon and Connor Wickham on a lengthy injury list. January signings Alexander Sorloth and Erdal Rakip will be in the squad.

Provisional squad: Hennessey, Henry, Van Aanholt, Tomkins, Delaney, Fosu-Mensah, Milivojevic, Townsend, McArthur, Rakip, Benteke, Sorloth, Ward, Sakho, Souare, Riedewald, Cabaye, Lee.

STOKE VS. BRIGHTON

STOKE: Jese Rodriguez will return to the Stoke squad for the first time in two months. The on-loan PSG forward, who was granted time off to be with his prematurely-born son, has not been available since he was disciplined for leaving the stadium as an unused substitute against Swansea on Dec. 2 after then-boss Mark Hughes had made all three changes. Defender Bruno Martins Indi has trained all week following a knock so could come back into contention for a side that have conceded 52 times in the Premier League.

Provisional squad: Butland, Grant, Shawcross, Zouma, Martins Indi, Wimmer, Cameron, Bauer, Stafylidis, Edwards, Pieters, Fletcher, Allen, Ireland, Adam, Ndiaye, Afellay, Shaqiri, Choupo-Moting, Sobhi, Diouf, Crouch, Berahino.

BRIGHTON: Brighton will include £14million record-signing Jurgen Locadia in their squad. Dutch forward Locadia, signed from PSV Eindhoven last month, is now fit for action having arrived with a hamstring injury. Midfielders Steve Sidwell and Jiri Skalak (both ankle) are the only players unavailable to Albion manager Chris Hughton.

Provisional squad: Ryan, Krul, Bong, Bruno, Duffy, Dunk, Hunemeier, Rosenior, Goldson, Schelotto, Suttner, Kayal, Propper, Knockaert, Stephens, March, Izquierdo, Gross, Ulloa, Murray, Hemed, Locadia, Baldock.

SWANSEA VS. BURNLEY

SWANSEA: New signings Andre Ayew and Andy King are in line to make their Swansea debuts. Striker Ayew has recovered from a hamstring injury after returning to Swansea from West Ham, while loan midfielder King was unable to play against parent club Leicester last weekend. Renato Sanches (hamstring) remains out, and Angel Rangel (groin) is the latest Swansea player to need surgery after Leroy Fer (Achilles) and Wilfried Bony (knee) suffered season-ending injuries.

Provisional squad: Fabianski, Naughton, Van der Hoorn, Fernandez, Mawson, Olsson, Ki, Clucas, King, Dyer, J Ayew, A Ayew, Nordfeldt, Roberts, Bartley, Carroll, Narsingh, Routledge, Abraham, James.

BURNLEY: Burnley have Stephen Ward back fit but will be without Phil Bardsley. Bardsley was forced off at half-time of last weekend's draw with Manchester City because of a hamstring problem so Matthew Lowton will make his first start following injury at right-back. Ward (knee) is likely to have to settle for a place on the bench as Charlie Taylor keeps his place at left-back. James Tarkowski (groin), Tom Heaton (shoulder), Robbie Brady, Steven Defour, Dean Marney, Chris Wood and Jon Walters (all knee), all remain sidelined.

Provisional squad: Pope, Lindegaard, Taylor, Mee, Long, Ward, Gudmundsson, Cork, Westwood, Arfield, Hendrick, Barnes, Ulvestad, Lowton, Lennon, Vokes, Nkoudou, Wells, O'Neill.

WEST HAM VS. WATFORD

WEST HAM: Patrice Evra goes into the West Ham squad, while Marko Arnautovic is also in contention. Former Manchester United left-back Evra this week joined the Hammers on a free transfer and forward Arnautovic is close to returning from a hamstring problem. Jose Fonte is short of match fitness and fellow defender Winston Reid has a throat infection, while Manuel Lanzini, Andy Carroll, Pedro Obiang, Edimilson Fernandes are still injured and Arthur Masuaku is suspended.

Provisional squad: Adrian, Hart, Collins, Ogbonna, Rice, Cresswell, Evra, Zabaleta, Reid, Fonte, Byram, Noble, Kouyate, Haksabanovic, Mario, Arnautovic, Antonio, Hernandez, Hugill.

WATFORD: Watford will continue to be without goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes. Gomes has been sidelined for four matches with a back complaint. Defender Miguel Britos is closing in on a first-team return following an ankle injury, but the trip to the London Stadium will come too soon. Younes Kaboul (foot), Kiko Femenia, Will Hughes (both hamstring), Isaac Success, Craig Cathcart, and Nathaniel Chalobah (all knee) remain unavailable.

Provisional squad: Karnezis, Bachmann, Zeegelaar, Janmaat, Kabasele, Cleverley, Doucoure, Pereyra, Richarlison, Ndong, Lukebakio, Carrillo, Prodl, Holebas, Capoue, Stewart, Gray, Okaka, Deeney, Deulofeu.

MANCHESTER CITY VS. LEICESTER

MAN CITY: John Stones is available again. The England centre-back has missed City's last two games due to first illness and then a minor knee problem. Midfielder Phil Foden (ankle) is also fit but playmaker David Silva (hip), winger Leroy Sane (ankle), striker Gabriel Jesus and left-backs Benjamin Mendy and Fabian Delph (all knee) are still out.

Provisional squad: Ederson, Bravo, Walker, Stones, Otamendi, Laporte, Kompany, Danilo, Zinchencko, Toure, Gundogan, Fernandinho, Foden, Diaz, Sterling, De Bruyne, B Silva, Aguero.

LEICESTER: Riyad Mahrez will miss a third successive match for Leicester. The winger has not been seen by the club since a move to the Etihad collapsed on the final day of the transfer window, missing training and the games against Everton and Swansea. The only change to the squad will see Shinji Okazaki drop out with a knee injury that could sideline him for up to two weeks.

Provisional squad: Schmeichel, Hamer, Jakupovic, Maguire, Huth, Fuchs, Simpson, Chilwell, Benalouane, Dragovic, James, Albrighton, Amartey, Gray, Silva, Ndidi, Iborra, Choudhury, Vardy, Iheanacho, Diabate.

SUNDAY'S GAMES

HUDDERSFIELD VS. BOURNEMOUTH

HUDDERSFIELD: Huddersfield pair Christopher Schindler and Laurent Depoitre face late fitness tests. Central defender Schindler and striker Depoitre both sustained ankle injuries in last week's defeat at Manchester United and missed the midweek FA Cup replay win at Birmingham. Full-back Tommy Smith (concussion) misses out, but Alex Pritchard returns to contention after being cup-tied and fellow midfielder Danny Williams has recovered from a dead leg.

Provisional squad: Lossl, Jorgensen, Hefele, Kongolo, Lowe, Hogg , Williams, Sabiri, Van La Parra, Ince, Billing, Pritchard, Mooy, Quaner, Hadergjonaj, Malone, Coleman, Mounie.

BOURNEMOUTH: Bournemouth could have defenders Adam Smith and Steve Cook back in contention. Smith has been sidelined since the end of January by a thigh problem while Cook went off during the first half of last weekend's win over Stoke with a hamstring complaint. Forward Jermain Defoe remains absent having fractured his right ankle, but is now doing some individual training sessions, while defender Tyrone Mings continues his recovery from a back problem.

Provisional squad: Begovic, S Cook, Francis, Ake, Daniels, L Cook, Fraser, Gosling, Ibe, Stanislas, Wilson, Boruc, A Smith, Arter, Surman, Pugh, King, Mousset.

NEWCASTLE VS. MANCHESTER UNITED

NEWCASTLE: Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez will make a late decision on striker Islam Slimani. The loan signing from Leicester arrived with a thigh injury and although he is training, he remains a doubt for the game. Defender Ciaran Clark (knee) and midfielder Mohamed Diame (knock) are fit, but full-back Jesus Gamez (ankle) is not yet ready to return.

Provisional squad: Darlow, Dubravka, Elliot, Yedlin, Manquillo, Dummett, Haidara, Lascelles, Clark, Mbemba, Merino, Hayden, Shelvey, Ritchie, Atsu, Murphy, Diame, Kenedy, Perez, Slimani, Joselu, Gayle.

MAN UNITED: Zlatan Ibrahimovic returned to first-team training two days ago, but the Manchester United striker will not be ready. The 36-year-old was given a new one-year deal after recovering impressively from a serious knee injury sustained in April, but managed only seven appearances before suffering a complaint with the same knee. Ibrahimovic is back in training having last featured on Boxing Day, but will continue to be on the sidelines this weekend - as will Eric Bailly (ankle), Daley Blind (ankle ligaments) and Marouane Fellaini (knee).

Provisional squad: De Gea, Romero, Pereira, Valencia, Darmian, Jones, Lindelof, Smalling, Rojo, Shaw, Young, Matic, Carrick, McTominay, Herrera, Pogba, Lingard, Mata, Martial, Rashford, Sanchez, Lukaku.

SOUTHAMPTON VS. LIVERPOOL

SOUTHAMPTON: Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino reported no fresh injury problems. Striker Manolo Gabbiadini had been carrying a hip problem last weekend against West Brom, where the Italian was an unused substitute in the 3-2 away win. Charlie Austin, though, remains out as the forward continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

Provisional squad: McCarthy, Stephens, Hoedt, Bertrand, Soares, Ward-Prowse, Boufal, Lemina, Tadic, Romeu, Carrillo, Forster, Yoshida, Davis, Redmond, Hojbjerg, Long, Gabbiadini.

LIVERPOOL: Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk is expected to start on his first return to Southampton since his £75million January move. Fellow defenders Ragnar Klavan and Alberto Moreno have recovered from muscle injuries to take their places in the squad. Right-back Joe Gomez is unlikely to feature because of a minor knee problem while midfielder Adam Lallana returns after a thigh problem.

Provisional squad: Karius, Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Can, Wijnaldum, Salah, Firmino, Mane, Mignolet, Matip, Klavan, Moreno, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana, Ings, Solanke.

MONDAY'S GAME

CHELSEA VS. WEST BROM

CHELSEA: Chelsea will be without suspended midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko. The France international serves a one-game ban following his dismissal at Watford. Striker Olivier Giroud could make his first start since moving from Arsenal, but centre-back Andreas Christensen (hamstring) faces a late fitness test and forward Alvaro Morata (back) remains sidelined.

Provisional squad: Courtois, Caballero, Eduardo, Rudiger, Cahill, Christensen, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Alonso, Zappacosta, Sterling, Palmieri, Ampadu, Fabregas, Drinkwater, Kante, Barkley, Hudson-Odoi, Moses, Willian, Pedro, Hazard, Giroud.

WEST BROM: Jay Rodriguez is available for selection despite being charged by the Football Association following his clash with Gaetan Bong. The striker will still be picked by boss Alan Pardew despite being charged with alleged racial abuse of the Brighton defender, something the England international denies. Jonny Evans (back), Kieran Gibbs (hamstring), Grzegorz Krychowiak (leg) are available but Jake Livermore (hamstring) James Morrison (Achilles) and Nacer Chadli (hip) are out.

Provisional squad: Foster, Myhill, Nyom, Evans, McAuley, Hegazi, Gibbs, Brunt, Yacob, Field, Phillips, McClean, Barry, Rondon, Burke, Rodriguez, Krychowiak, Robson-Kanu, Sturridge.
