Premier League team news: Injuries and suspensions update

SATURDAY'S GAMES

BRIGHTON VS. CHELSEA

BRIGHTON: Steve Sidwell remains Brighton's only injury absentee. The midfielder underwent a back operation in September and still faces another few months on the sidelines. Boss Chris Hughton otherwise has a fully-fit squad as the Seagulls go in search of a first Premier League win in 2018.

Provisional squad: Ryan, Krul, Bong, Bruno, Duffy, Dunk, Hunemeier, Rosenior, Goldson, Schelotto, Suttner, Kayal, Propper, Skalak, Knockaert, Stephens, March, Izquierdo, Gross, Murray, Hemed, Baldock.

CHELSEA: Chelsea forwards Pedro and Alvaro Morata are suspended following their dismissals against Norwich. Defender Gary Cahill and playmaker Cesc Fabregas (both hamstring) are again out, with head coach Antonio Conte expected to make changes after giving many fringe players an opportunity in Wednesday's FA Cup win, which went to extra-time and penalties. Ross Barkley is in the squad and could make his debut off the substitutes' bench, while the Blues have a number of undisclosed doubts.

Provisional squad: Courtois, Caballero, Rudiger, Alonso, Drinkwater, Kante, Barkley, Hazard, Bakayoko, Moses, Kenedy, Musonda, Zappacosta, Willian, Batshuayi, Christensen, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Clarke-Salter, Sterling, Eduardo, Ampadu, Hudson-Odoi.

ARSENAL VS. CRYSTAL PALACE

ARSENAL: Arsene Wenger insists Alexis Sanchez could feature against Crystal Palace. Sanchez was left out at Bournemouth as his future remains in doubt, but Wenger could bring him back against the Eagles after he trained with the first team on Friday morning as a potential transfer to Old Trafford rumbles on. Mesut Ozil is available following a knee problem and defenders Laurent Koscielny and Nacho Monreal (both ankle) are also pushing to return but Olivier Giroud (hamstring) is not in contention while Santi Cazorla (Achilles) is a long-term absentee.

Provisional squad: Cech, Ospina, Mertesacker, Holding, Mustafi, Koscielny, Chambers, Monreal, Mavropanos, Debuchy, Bellerin, Nelson, Kolasinac, Maitland-Niles, Wilshere, Xhaka, Elneny, Ramsey, Ozil, Iwobi, Sanchez, Welbeck, Lacazette.

CRYSTAL PALACE: Team news to follow...

BURNLEY VS. MANCHESTER UNITED

BURNLEY: Scott Arfield could return after shrugging off a hamstring strain sustained in the New Year's Day defeat to Liverpool. Arfield's return would be a major boost to Burnley boss Sean Dyche, who will be without striker Jon Walters for up to eight weeks after the 34-year-old underwent knee surgery. Defender Stephen Ward (knee) and striker Chris Wood (leg) are both making good progress but will not be in contention this weekend, while Tom Heaton (shoulder) and Robbie Brady (knee) remain long-term absentees.

Provisional squad: Pope, Bardsley, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor, Gudmundsson, Cork, Defour, Hendrick Barnes, Wells, Vokes, Nkoudou, Lindegaard, Lowton, Westwood, Long, Marney.

MAN UNITED: Jose Mourinho will not consider Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Mkhitaryan will be left out of United's squad for the second straight game while negotiations continue with Arsenal over a swap deal that would see Alexis Sanchez move in the opposite direction. Ashley Young is back from suspension, though Luke Shaw looks set to retain his place at left-back, with Daley Blind picking up a problem that could rule him out along with Eric Bailly (ankle) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (knee).

Provisional squad: Provisional squad: Romero, De Gea, Pereira, Tuanzebe, Darmian, Jones, Smalling, Valencia, Lindelof, Rojo, Shaw, Blind, Young, McTominay, Pogba, Herrera, Matic, Carrick, Fellaini, Lingard, Martial, Rashford, Lukaku, Mata.

EVERTON VS. WEST BROM

EVERTON: Everton new signing Theo Walcott is set for his debut. Defender Michael Keane has recovered from a gashed foot that has caused him to miss the last two matches. Full-back Seamus Coleman is back in training after making a full recovery from his broken leg last March but is still a few weeks away from match fitness.

Provisional squad: Pickford, Kenny, Holgate, Jagielka, Martina, Gueye, McCarthy, Bolasie, Rooney, Sigurdsson, Walcott, Robles, Williams, Keane, Schneiderlin, Lennon, Niasse, Calvert-Lewin, Lookman, Tosun.

WEST BROM: Nacer Chadli and James Morrison remain out. Midfielder Chadli continues to be troubled by a hip problem while Morrison is struggling to shake off a long-term Achilles injury which has wrecked his season. Jonny Evans is expected to start at Goodison Park on Saturday despite continued speculation about his future, although the Baggies are yet to receive a firm bid for the defender this month.

Provisional squad: Foster, Myhill, Palmer, Hegazi, McAuley, Dawson, Evans, Nyom, Gibbs, Brunt, Field, Livermore, Krychowiak, Barry, Burke, Yacob, McClean, Phillips, Robson-Kanu, Rondon, Rodriguez, Leko.

LEICESTER VS. WATFORD

LEICESTER: Several players will return to the Leicester team. Kasper Schmeichel, Harry Maguire, Onyinye Ndidi, Marc Albrighton and Jamie Vardy were all rested to one degree or another against Fleetwood in the FA Cup in midweek but should be back in the starting line-up on Saturday. Ben Chilwell missed the third-round replay through suspension and he too might be restored to the side. Fellow full-back Danny Simpson (hamstring) has resumed training but the visit of the Hornets could come too soon for him to be involved.

Provisional squad: Schmeichel, Hamer, Jakupovic, Maguire, Huth, Fuchs, Chilwell, Benalouane, Dragovic, James, King, Albrighton, Amartey, Gray, Silva, Ndidi, Mahrez, Iborra, Choudhury, Musa, Vardy, Slimani, Okazaki, Ulloa, Iheanacho.

WATFORD: Midfielder Tom Cleverley is a doubt. Former Manchester United and Everton midfielder Cleverley went off in the first half of last weekend's 2-2 draw with Southampton with a hamstring problem. The Hornets still have a long list of injured players. Isaac Success, Craig Cathcart, Nathaniel Chalobah (all knee), Will Hughes, Kiko Femenia (both hamstring), Younes Kaboul (foot) and Miguel Britos (ankle) are out.

Provisional squad: Gomes, Zeegelaar, Wague, Janmaat, Kabasele, Cleverley, Doucoure, Watson, Pereyra, Richarlison, Carrillo, Karnezis, Prodl, Holebas, Capoue, Sinclair, Gray, Okaka, Deeney.

STOKE VS. HUDDERSFIELD

STOKE: Kostas Stafylidis could make his debut in the Potters' first match with new boss Paul Lambert in charge. Lambert is assessing the fitness of the Greece left-back signed on loan from Augsburg, with the 24-year-old having last played for the Bundesliga outfit in November. Fellow defenders Ryan Shawcross, Erik Pieters, Geoff Cameron and Glen Johnson, each of whom have been sidelined, have all trained ahead of the contest at the bet365 Stadium.

Provisional squad: Butland, Grant, Shawcross, Zouma, Martins Indi, Wimmer, Cameron, Bauer, Stafylidis, Johnson, Edwards, Pieters, Tymon, Fletcher, Allen, Ireland, Adam, Afellay, Shaqiri, Choupo-Moting, Sobhi, Diouf, Crouch, Berahino.

HUDDERSFIELD: Huddersfield pair Terence Kongolo and Alex Pritchard are in contention to make their first Premier League starts. Centre-half Kongolo and midfielder Pritchard both stepped off the bench for their league debuts in last week's home defeat to West Ham, while head coach David Wagner has no new injury concerns. Martin Cranie, Philip Billing and Jon Gorenc Stankovic are edging closer to their returns after injury. Elias Kachunga (knee) remains the only long-term absentee.

Provisional squad: Lossl, Malone, Schindler, Jorgensen, Smith, Kongolo, Hogg, Mooy, Van La Parra, Lolley, Pritchard, Ince, Depoitre, Coleman, Hefele, Williams, Sabiri, Mounie.

WEST HAM VS. BOURNEMOUTH

WEST HAM: Forward Javier Hernandez is set to be available. Hernandez, who missed West Ham's Emirates FA Cup replay victory against Shrewsbury on Tuesday, has recovered from flu. Manager David Moyes will take a late decision on the fitness of Andre Ayew, who is battling a hamstring issue, but Andy Carroll (ankle), Michail Antonio (groin), Jose Fonte (calf), Edimilson Fernandes (ankle) and Winston Reid (groin) are all out.

Provisional squad: Adrian, Hart, Masuaku, Cresswell, Collins, Zabaleta, Ogbonna, Kouyate, Rice, Noble, Obiang, Cullen, Burke, Quina, Lanzini, Arnautovic, Ayew, Hernandez.

BOURNEMOUTH: Josh King and Junior Stanislas are pushing hard to be fit. Both forwards are continuing to battle hamstring complaints, and will be assessed late on ahead of the London Stadium encounter. Manager Eddie Howe will restore his front-line stars for the West Ham trip, following the midweek 3-0 FA Cup third-round replay loss at Wigan.

Provisional squad: Begovic, Boruc, Ramsdale, S Cook, Francis, Simpson, Ake, A Smith, Daniels, Surman, L Cook, Fraser, Gosling, Pugh, Hyndman, Ibe, Afobe, Wilson, Mousset, King, Stanislas.

MANCHESTER CITY VS. NEWCASTLE

MAN CITY: Manchester City have a problem at left-back after Fabian Delph (knee) joined the injury list. Delph, who had been covering for long-term casualty Benjamin Mendy (knee) could be sidelined for at least a few weeks. Other options include Danilo and youngster Oleksandr Zinchenko. Captain Vincent Kompany (calf) remains doubtful while striker Gabriel Jesus (knee) and midfielder Phil Foden (ankle) are also unavailable.

Provisional squad: Ederson, Bravo, Walker, Otamendi, Stones, Mangala, Adarabioyo, Danilo, Zinchenko, Toure, Gundogan, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, D Silva, B Silva, Sterling, Sane, Diaz, Aguero.

NEWCASTLE: Striker Aleksandar Mitrovic could return to the Newcastle squad. The Serbia international has missed the last eight games with a back injury, but has returned to training and will hope to be involved at the Etihad Stadium. Defenders Jesus Gamez (ankle) and Florian Lejeune (foot) are improving, but are not yet ready to return.

Provisional squad: Elliot, Darlow, Woodman, Yedlin, Manquillo, Dummett, Haidara, Lascelles, Clark, Mbemba, Merino, Hayden, Shelvey, Saivet, Ritchie, Atsu, Murphy, Aarons, Diame, Perez, Joselu, Gayle, Mitrovic.

SUNDAY'S GAME

SOUTHAMPTON VS. TOTTENHAM

SOUTHAMPTON: Maya Yoshida is facing an uphill struggle to be fit. The Japan defender will undergo a late fitness test ahead of the St Mary's encounter, as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury. Charlie Austin remains sidelined with a long-term hamstring problem, but otherwise boss Maurico Pellegrino can select from strength.

Provisional squad: McCarthy, Forster, Bertrand, Stephens, Yoshida, Hoedt, Soares, Pied, Gardos, McQueen, Bednarek, Targett, Romeu, Lemina, Hojbjerg, Ward-Prowse, Davis, Boufal, Tadic, Redmond, Long, Gabbiadini, Sims.

TOTTENHAM: Tottenham are sweating on the fitness of Hugo Lloris. Lloris is suffering from flu and will be assessed, with Michel Vorm ready to step in. Toby Alderweireld (hamstring), Danny Rose (knee) and Harry Winks (ankle) are all still out.

Provisional squad: Lloris, Vorm, Gazzaniga, Davies, Walker-Peters, Vertonghen, Sanchez, Dier, Foyth, Trippier, Aurier, Amos, Wanyama, Sissoko, Dembele, Alli, Eriksen, Son, Lamela, Llorente, Sterling, Kane.

MONDAY'S GAME

SWANSEA VS. LIVERPOOL

SWANSEA: Swansea are waiting on striker Tammy Abraham. The England international has missed four games with a hip injury, but the return of Wilfried Bony from a hamstring problem has bolstered Swansea's strikeforce. Mike Van der Hoorn (muscle injury), Renato Sanches (hamstring) and Angel Rangel (calf) should all be available.

Provisional squad: Fabianski, Naughton, Fernandez, Bartley, Mawson, Olsson, Clucas, Ki, Carroll, Ayew, Bony, Nordfeldt, Roberts, Rangel, Van der Hoorn, Mesa, Britton, Fer, Sanches, Narsingh, Abraham, Dyer, Fulton, Routledge, McBurnie.

LIVERPOOL: Liverpool top scorer Mohamed Salah and defenders Dejan Lovren and Ragnar Klavan are all expected to recover from illness. Centre-back Virgil van Dijk returns to the side after a tight hamstring ruled him out of last week's win over Manchester City. Captain Jordan Henderson (hamstring) and Alberto Moreno (ankle) are back in training but are not likely to be ready until next weekend's FA Cup tie at home to West Brom.

Provisional squad: Karius, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Matip, Robertson, Can, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Salah, Firmino, Mane, Mignolet, Gomez, Klavan, Lovren, Milner, Lallana, Ings, Solanke, Sturridge.
