Spurs star Harry Kane behind only players like Messi, Ronaldo - Koeman

LIVERPOOL -- Everton manager Ronald Koeman has said he believes Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is just behind Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Alexis Sanchez as one of the world's best players.

Kane scored his 100th and 101st goals for the club in Saturday's 3-0 win at Goodison Park.

The England striker admitted that his 28th-minute opener, which sailed over Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford from wide on the right, was meant to be a cross.

He added another from close range in the second half after Christian Eriksen had doubled Spurs' lead.

"After Messi, Ronaldo and Alexis Sanchez and one or two more, he's one of the best," Koeman told a news conference.

"The first goal was lucky but in his football he's really clever and he's using his body at the right time. His finishing... He's a top striker.

"Until 1-0 down, we did well. We didn't create a lot but neither did they. The 1-0 down broke our confidence a bit.

"Again we started well but when I spoke about Tottenham, I mentioned [that] with Man City [they are] the best football side in the Premier League."

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino hailed Kane, saying: "It's not important -- cross or shot it was a goal for us.

"I'm happy because he scored and scored 100 goals for us today. He deserves a lot of praise. It's an unbelievable mark for him."

Pochettino was also pleased with Moussa Sissoko, who made a rare start in a more central role, full debutant Davinson Sanchez and left-back Ben Davies, who set up a goal for Christian Eriksen as well as making Kane's second.

"Davinson was very good," Pochettino said. "The good thing is that he was very calm and relaxed on the pitch.

"I'm very happy because he's young and in the Premier League when you start to play and come from the Netherlands it's always a big impact. But for him it was very good.

"I think Davies was fantastic, not only today but in the last three seasons from the day he arrived. He's a great professional, a great player and a great man. Today he was top.

"I think Sissoko was good today. His position is dependent on the tactics and the dynamic of how you want to play.

"I am happy with him, he's part of my plan and today he was very good.

"The performance was solid. I think everyone played well today."
