Gabriel Jesus made 'right choice' to join Manchester City - Brazil coach Tite

Gabriel Jesus made the right decision to join Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, according to Brazil coach Tite.

The 19-year-old signed a five-year deal with City in the summer but has remained with Brazilian league leaders Palmeiras until the end of the championship in December.

European rivals Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain were all reported to be interested in signing Jesus before he completed his £27 million move to the Etihad.

The forward said that a phone call from Guardiola convinced him to join City and Tite says the Catalan coach is the right man to help him improve.

"[When Manchester City signed him] Gabriel didn't consult me because we were just getting to know each other," Tite told Brazilian sports channel SporTV.

"I believe he made the right choice because of the coach. Normally you pick the club with the coach and, yes, he got it right."

Jesus has made a big impact for Brazil after helping the country win gold at the Olympics in the summer.

He has scored four goals in four appearances for the Selecao, who top the South American qualifying table for the 2018 World Cup.

And Tite has praised the forward ahead of Brazil's clash with Argentina on Thursday.

"He's one hell of a kid. What does this guy have? His turn of pace, his 10-metre sprints; they're very strong," Tite added.

"The only thing I put to him: don't let up on the marking, don't commit fouls, and don't be shy of getting the ball and going at your man, because of the force he has. He's a horse. He's a very strong animal."
