Christian Benteke: Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp 'didn't have same vision'

Christian Benteke is keen to prove himself at club and international level again following his move to Crystal Palace but he does not feel that he failed at Liverpool.

Benteke, 25, signed for Palace earlier this month for a fee that could rise to £32 million, just a year after moving to Liverpool from Aston Villa for £32.5m.

The Belgium striker only started 14 Premier League matches last season, although he still scored nine league goals for Liverpool.

Benteke said his main problem at Anfield was down to the fact that Brendan Rodgers, the manager who signed him, was replaced by Jurgen Klopp.

"I'm impatient to show myself on both these levels," he told reporters ahead of Belgium's friendly with Spain.

"Crystal Palace is the right choice. It's a project within which I can demonstrate my qualities. I want to play at all costs and that's why I left Liverpool.

"I don't think I failed there however. The coach and I didn't have the same vision. I didn't fit into the system that he used. I was a transfer of his predecessor."

Benteke made his league debut for Palace in the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth last weekend and he is confident that his new manager Alan Pardew can get the best out of him.

"Palace wasn't the only option for me," he said.

"I could have earned more elsewhere but I'm 25 years old now -- a pivotal age. I absolutely want to show myself this season.

"Pardew knows my qualities. He knows that I had a good preparation with Liverpool and that I will not need a lot of time to be ready to play."
