Leicester City's Craig Shakespeare to join England coaching staff - report

Leicester City assistant manager Craig Shakespeare will be appointed to Sam Allardyce's England staff on a part-time basis, the Telegraph reports.

Shakespeare's appointment is set to be announced by the Football Association ahead of the Foxes Premier League game against Arsenal on Saturday, with an agreement was reached between both parties over the weekend.

Allardyce had approached Paul Clement about the role but Bayern Munich were resistant to him combining two roles and he turned down the opportunity.

However, Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri is content for Shakespeare to take on the job.

He said: "I watch Craig in training and he is very focused on the job. I would be very happy [if he joined up with England]."

Former Liverpool and Southampton coach Sammy Lee has already been appointed to Allardyce's staff after the pair worked together at Bolton over a number of seasons.

Shakespeare joined Leicester in 2011 alongside Nigel Pearson, whom he had worked alongside at West Bromwich Albion and Hull City. Upon Pearson's departure from the Kingpower Stadium in 2015 he was kept on by Ranieri.
